The author, well known in tramway circles, has produced a brief history and photographic record of the Hill of Howth tram. He cites one of his reasons for doing so as
the branding of his previous book on Howth's trams as 'flippant'. Being well aware personally of the pettiness and begrudgery that bedevils the Irish railway
enthusiast scene, it is a constant irritation that all would do well to eliminate.
A brief history of Howth is given, including mention of the industrial tramways that have existed there at various stages. A history of the Clontarf and Hill of Howth
Tramroad, part of the DUTC system is included for completeness sake. Photographs of the system in both b/w and colour are included.
